Happy hump day. After having two glorious days in San Francisco it is back to being a bit foggy and cold. As I’ve said before, I actually like when it’s not so nice outside because I can stay inside all day and not feel guilty about it. Today, I finally listened to my mastered album to check for anything that sounds wrong- whether it’s the timing between songs, or clarity of tones etc. For the most part it sounds pretty good with a few minor things I have to change, so hooray!!!:-) On to the next part which is the art work.
But today I want to talk about something/someone that almost everyone these days has an opinion on. Yeah that’s right, I’m talking Gaga. Why, you might ask, am I entering into the conversation about this topic that’s been going on for what seems like forever now? Well, because last week I saw an interview special on her and I was pleasantly surprised.
I think it’s an interesting subject because I find that people either love her or hate her. To illicit such a strong emotional response you must be doing something right. I find that I neither love her or hate her. I am trying to take her for what she is. But after seeing the interview I can say I like her more than I thought I did.
She comes across as very down to earth. She’s actually quite articulate and smart.I think the theatrics are too much for my taste (and I imagine that’s what the haters don’t like) but I understand what she’s going for. And you have to admit it takes a lot of balls to commit to something so whole-heartedly(probably what the lovers like). To be so Gaga-esque that we probably wouldn’t recognize her if she wore jeans and a t-shirt (if ever she wanted to go out and not be followed by the paparazzi that’s the disguise I’d suggest:-)
Her passion for the music and her dedication is clear. She is actually classically trained as a pianist. I hope that we get to hear more of that side of her in future albums. Maybe a re-invention as a “normal” girl. Wouldn’t that be funny?
But what it comes down to at the end is the music. and I have to say I love a lot of her songs. And might I add, so does everyone else. I don’t have her new album, and I am not one of her “little monsters” nor do I ever want to be, but her first album “The Fame” provides me with a boatload of music to work out/dance to. Every time one of her songs, comes up on my ipod when I’m running, I pick up the pace a little bit:-)
I’m not sure how this album did or what the singles were because my sister introduced me to it way after the fact and her second album “The Fame Monster” was already doing well. So, I’m going to leave you with one of my favorites from the album “The Fame” called “Beautiful Dirty Rich”. Turn it up and put your dancing shoes on…..
gaga for now,
Beautiful Dirty Rich
