My Most Vulnerable Song Yet
/In my recent interview on Radio Free Brooklyn, I said that songs are a sonic snapshot that capture the moment I write them in.
Some people paint, some take photos, and I write songs. Songwriting is extremely cathartic and I write many songs not knowing if they'll ever be songs that I share. 🎶
One of those, is a song called "Until You Come". I wrote it recently in a moment of deep feeling, and I played it a lot to self-soothe. It felt like a prayer of sorts and I imagined that people who heard it and felt similarly, would be soothed by it too. I felt nervous to play it out but I ended up doing so at one of my Rockwood Hall shows.
One of my friends told me that it was his favorite song and that he almost cried. Last week on the radio, the host, Francesca, did cry. Another friend who insisted I play it so she could video tape it, said she listened to it 4 times in a row 😊.
Seeing as how it was on the radio last week, I wanted to share it with you here as well. My sonic snapshot of a moment in my life.
Without further ado:
Here is "Until You Come"
all my love,
Dana
