I hope your blues turn to gold

Picture this: I'm on the floor, desperate for inspiration to hit for my song-a- week-for-a-year project (week 37 to be exact). Feeling unrequited feelings for some boy who didn't know I felt feelings. Too scared to say anything and just torturing myself with the secret that only my best friends knew.

That, among other things, had me in a state of sadness. I was texting with a friend who told me a funny story about her nephew and then as we were saying goodbye she said " I hope your blues turn to gold".

Now THAT is what I call a lightbulb moment." Blue to Gold? ON IT! ". I love how inspiration is around every corner or in every conversation if you're open to it.

I then proceeded to write my song, Blue to Gold, which is another favorite song (you might start to notice they're ALL favorites, but I'm a bit biased😉). It's about looking back and wondering about how things might have gone, while also being in the present moment with what is.

This song made it on to my album "Little Red Heart" and my producer played upright bass on it. I love how it turned out.

One reviewer, Geoff Wilbur, had this to say about it.

"Another favorite is a true jazzy lounge number, “Blue to Gold,” as if straight out of a scene in James Bond movie, with Dana expressing insightful turns of phrase like “maybe if I start to let it go, then all my blues would turn into gold.”

What an amazing compliment. Thanks Geoff!

Without further ado:

Here is Blue to Gold.

all my love,
Dana
