Hello Moon

Almost 5 years to the day, Sept. 18th 2017, is when I left for what would become my magical time in Italy. During the 3 months I was there, I was inspired beyond belief. I had my travel guitar with me and the land and the people filled me with melodies I had never sung before.

In Positano, I found a cute airbnb by walking up to the door and asking if there was room for me. An older Italian woman, Lucia, said yes they had room and she would even give me a deal because I was traveling alone and it was off-season.

That cute airbnb became a home away from home. I had a little kitchen and a balcony that overlooked the mediterranean sea. Lucia even offered to do my laundry and became the Italian grandmother I never had.

One night when I came home from dinner, I went to my balcony (what a life! ❤️) and saw the full moon shining bright down at me. I said aloud "hello moon" and then remembered a melody I had just started the day before where those words would fit perfectly.

And thus my song "Hello Moon" was born. It is by far the song that gets the most praise after I play shows or share it with friends or online. It has yet to be recorded (can't believe it's been 5 years!) but I'm hoping to change that in the coming months.

To this day, every time I see the moon, I can't help but sing the whole song to her.

Without further ado, here is my lo-fi version of "Hello Moon"🌝

all my love,
Dana

p.s. If you're interested in my process of how I wrote the song, I documented it in my dark and cold Positano kitchen. You can check part 1 of that session out below.

p.p.s Get your one- of-a- kind vinyl recording of Hello Moon or another song of your choosing when I record at Leesta Vall Sound in November.
