Song in Your Box, Week Forty-Four

Week Forty-Four, "Baby Boy" Have you ever had a person or people in your life whose patterns and actions are so clear to you and are so self- sabotaging that you just want to point them out so they can see it too? So that you can "help" them?

I don't think I'm alone here when I say that sometimes as friends, because we have outside perspectives, we can see things that they can't see for themselves. (And conversely our friends can see things in us that we can't see for ourselves.) It's much easier to see in someone else, am I right?

For me, as a friend, daughter, sister, aunt, someone who cares deeply for the people I love, it's in my nature to try to "help" people who I think could benefit from it. To point out their patterns so they can learn. Because I'm so eager to learn about myself  I think everyone else wants to as well. But of course, as we all know, you cannot help those who do not want to be helped.

And then on the other side of that, is "who the hell am I to tell someone they need help?" Someone who cares of course, but so what? It's not enough to change a person's patterns or ways. They have to get to the point where they want it for themselves (rock bottom if you will.)

So what does all of this have to do with this week's song? Absolutely NOTHING!

JUST KIDDING!

I think this week's song is about accepting people for who they are and realizing that there's nothing you can do to make someone want to learn, grow and change. They have to do it for themselves and all you can do is worry about your own growth and "be the change you want to see".

So how's that for "deep thoughts with Dana Carmel"? These are some of the threads weaving in my life lately, so I thought I'd share them here.

Please, let me know what you think. Have you had an experience where you want to help someone who doesn't want to be helped? What did you do?

All my deep thought love,

Dana

You play the victim

You make me the bad guy

You never listen

You always think that you're right

You're always late

You never take the blame

Cuz you're the king

And everyone else can wait

I'm not your mama

But I can tell that you really need one

I'm not your mama

But I can see that you're a baby boy

You're narcissistic

I'm sure you can't tell

Look in the mirror

You fall in love with yourself....Oh beautiful boy

When you grow up

You say you'll be a man

But then you show up

You act like Peter Pan...Oh beautiful boy

I'm not your mama

But I can tell that you really need one

I'm not your mama

But I can see that you're a baby boy

I could try to teach you,it's just so hard to reach you when you don't look at yourself

You're in denial

And I would help you out

But it seems final

You like living your life, up in the clouds

I'm not your mama

But I can tell that you really need one

I'm not your mama

But I can see that you're a baby boy
