Song in Your Box, Week Forty-Three
/Here are the lyrics
Little Red Heart. You don't seem so smart. When you gonna learn?
I thought you could see. He's no good for me. You play with fire you get burned
Why you beat for him? Find another rhythm.
I'm taking over the show
Cuz I shoulda never let you take control
Little voice that sings. Why you trembling? You don't have to be nervous
Every time he's near, we can barely hear your beautiful chorus
And you sing your song to noone
I'm taking over the show
Cuz I shoulda never let you take control
Little hand of mine. so delicate and fine. I don't understand
Why you separate what you give and what you take. Why you reach for what you can't grab
And you don't let go. of the hand you hold
I'm taking over the show
Cuz I shoulda never let you take control
So my heart will beat in time to the melody in my mind. So my hand will start to grab what it can.
I'm taking over the show
Cuz I shoulda never let you take control

Week Forty-Three, "Little Red Heart" I believe I'm starting the countdown. You know like the New Year's Eve countdown that happens 10 seconds to midnight except for I'M doing 10 weeks/songs to the end of MY songwriting year. And after this week it's actually 9. So OK, say it with me now, "NINE!"
I'm sure you'll hear me talk about it a lot in the next NINE weeks. It is bittersweet. At the moment I feel excited by the thought of having more time and a little bit more freedom. And of course the feeling of having completed my project is sure to be euphoric to say the least. On the other hand, I really like the discipline and am a little nervous that I'll be so blinded by this new freedom that I won't know what to do with myself!
This week's song, "Little Red Heart" is probably something I would call a ditty only because I really love that word... plus according to the definition it IS a ditty:) (See below) I liked the idea of talking to parts of my body as if they have a mind of their own. It sure does feel like that sometimes, doesn't it?
So, I guess I'll keep this email short and simple to go hand and hand with the ditty.
See you next week!
Love,
Dana
