When I first moved (back) to Brooklyn after living in San Francisco, I invited myself to do a crazy project: I would write one song a week for a year. I had heard the mystical tales of other people doing it before me, but I needed to experience it for myself.

I’m tickled pink to share this review that came out yesterday for my album “Little Red Heart”. It’s a beautifully written review and really captures what the album is to me. I couldn’t have said it any better .

When the world went into lockdown in March of 2020 every single person on the PLANET was faced with a very scary, new reality. We each did the best that we could with this information.

Knowing myself and my tendency to need structure (even though my rebel inside feels like it’s taking away my freedom), I discussed with my coach what I would do with all this time.

In November 2020, a dear friend of mine, Curtis Bryant, passed to the other side. Everyone who knew him called him CB. I called him Ceebs. And he called himself the Mayor of Divisadero; a street in San Francisco that ran through the neighborhood we lived in. He lived in that neighborhood, on Grove St., for 47 years.

I heard it first on the Netflix show “Never Have I Ever” and I shazam-ed it on the spot. I didn’t listen to it much after that. Then I heard it at a friends place who added it to a playlist and I was reminded of its’ coolness, its vibe.

I wrote this song “Minute by Minute” during quarantine during my #songaday project. It was Day 8, March 23rd 2020.

Let’s face it. No one sits down to watch 45 minute shows anymore. Do they? do you?

I had so much fun playing a longer set the other night put on by @wearecatcall and @imperfectfifth but when I was editing it, I thought to myself “the chances of someone watching this whole thing in one sitting, is very very slim.”

I wanted to let you know that the livestream I did last night on IG and FB is now up for your viewing pleasure on Youtube.

The original reason I even thought to do this is because of the big mambajamba show that I'm doing NEXT Wednesday on March 31st on IG and FB (with We Are Cat Call and Imperfect Fifth). They've been celebrating Women's History Month all month long and I'll be wrapping the whole thing up on the last day of the month.
